Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) better known by her real moniker Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. In October 21st, 2016 she dropped Pho, her debut EP under the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox released her songs online in 2012 when she released the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued posting her songs online, including her self-released single Bound. In 2015, she appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on July 21st. In the following year, her music circulated around the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. Her announcement to sign with Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. Backseat is a song that was written by her and Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. She released Pho, her debut album on October 21, 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer for J. Cole on his single Change in 2017. She also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she guest-starred in two of her songs with labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. The music video later released in September. The 9th of November saw her release two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 13, she released two more singles called One and Pedigree. One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. The track was released as a stand-alone single in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. In February, the video music for the track was launched. The track has garnered over three million YouTube views in just one week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK during their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
